Mr. Foxen
Ah balls, just put the last of my sets on a bass that I decided I didn't like that much.
LiamPodmore
This is going to put it at about £20 for guitar strings, £40 for 4 string sets and £50 for 5 string sets. I just started using them last month and i don't know whether it's worth carrying on using them now. I might grab a 5 string set before the end of the month because they'll last years with the amount i use it. Liam
HotelEcho
30-40%??? What the hell, are they starting making them out of Neodymium or something?
Kev
Wow. What with more and more coated string alternatives being released all the time, what a way to shoot yourself in the foot. Unless everyone is about to do this?

EDIT: Also, does anyone know if this is just Strings Direct? I assume it will be other outlets too. skej21
For that price, they better be made from adamantium!
WalMan
I still have a couple of sets in stock, and they do last a long time. I did try a different coated brand a couple of years back but they weren't a patch on the Elixirs. IIRC the price is possibly gettting back towards where they started years back. I still love'em and think they have the edge for me once you take longevity into account. A set that lasts getting on for twice as long come out the same as two sets of another brand if you look at it that way
Jellyfish
Here's a reason not to use them too, at least. http://btpub.boyd-printing.com/display_article.php?id=1115676

Chances of the coating surviving a trip through the bridge and going over the saddles is slim. They work fine, I use Elixirs with my stupid amounts of gain, and loads of top (bunch of the reason I use elixirs is they reduce string squeak as your fingertips rub them) with no hum issues. Have tried the other coated strings but they didn't do the lasting.
