dazza14
Just seen this on my daily stroll through the bay; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-American-Precision-Bass-grey-black-99p-start/261226667135?_trksid=p2047675.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555001%26algo%3DPW.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29%26meid%3D8322897353922747887%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D1013%26rk%3D4%26sd%3D251287326097%26#ht_597wt_1170 For some reason i don't think it's actually a Fender. I think it's the low horn, the shape looks too 'wide' in the way it fans out. Plus the scratchplate seems to not fit correctly... Any thoughts? Shobaleader One
Is the 'Precision Bass' decal usually that close to the edge of the headstock? Smells fishy...
sblueplanet
Looks like a copy to me too.
Fat Rich
It's all wrong, every single bit of it.Body shape, headstock shape, logo, tuners, bridge, truss rod adjustment sticks out, wrong knobs, wrong neck construction..... Plus the fingerboard's coming off!
RhysP
Shape's all wrong, "Precision Bass" lettering looks like it's been done badly with Letraset, and the bridge has screw holes in the front of the base plate. Don't think it's a Fender.
RhysP
Plus the fingerboard's coming off!
That makes it's construction closer to a vintage Rickenbacker than a Fender - that's where Rick fingerboards always come away from the neck. Ziphoblat
The end of the fingerboard after the 20th fret is too angular, they're usually rounded off. The scratch plate comes too close to the end of the body and is a dodgy fit (look at the lovely cut-out for the truss rod too), the proportions are all wrong on the body, specifically the horns, the decal is an absolute dog, the colour isn't legit, all the hardware appears to have been swapped off for cheap crap (the knobs, the gold hardware), and look at that nut... brilliant. Can't believe anyone could put that sort of money on something so obviously fake.
Chiliwailer
I might just bid £5000 on this one, to stop the poor souls who know nothing of Fender from getting in a pickle when this arrives on their door step. Anyone else with me here?!!! edit: On second thoughts, if you're stupid enough to buy a bass with a split fingerboard when you can't even identify a real Fender..... I'm watching this one with anticipation. Edited June 13, 2013 by Chiliwailer
