paul_5
+1 to all of the usual suspects - plus Keith Emerson's left hand.
spongebob
I'll play - Like most of us - list only current for today, as it will have changed by 6pm tonight! Geddy Lee (Rush) Lemmy (Motorhead) Chris Squire (Yes) Jaco Pastorius (need to ask....!) Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr.) JJ Burnel (The Stranglers) Ralphe Armstrong (Mahavishu Orchestra) Michael Henderson (Miles Davis) I'd probably add a couple of players - say, Willie Weeks and Chuck Rainey to finish off. Guys that have played on soooo many records that we all love, we've all been influenced in some way. Plus I'd love to have their bass CV's!

indiegrungesound
I've got to give props to spongebob & the_skezz for mentioning Lou Barlow & Klaus Flouride! B-) I'm a bigger fan of Sebadoh than Dinosaur J, but Mr Barlow's playing style(I.e. Playing chords on the bass as opposed to just roots, a bit like Lemmy but why added "Beat The Cr*p Out of your instrument!" panache! ;-))is just so cool IMO! As for Klaus, he was nearly 30 when he got his gig with The Dead Kennedys & has been attacking the low end with them ever since. Nice job!

Ian Savage
Aw, I thought I'd be the first to go for at least a couple of mine in vague order: Matt Freeman Duff McKagen Lemmy Random John Poole Cass Lewis Andy Graham (Ian Siegal's bass player) Flea (why not ) Derek Smalls ...and I'll leave two spaces for the favourites I've inevitably left out and shall remember later

Lozz196
Not in any particular order Glen Matlock, Bruce Foxton, JJ Burnell, Duff McKagan, Jerry Scheff, John Deacon, Adam Clayton, Nikki Sixx, Paul Simenon, John Taylor. Chose these guys as I like particular bass-lines of theirs which appear in my music collection. Really like players like Jamerson/Edwards/Pino/McCartney, but the above probably had more influence on my playing.
