It's a fun, happy, encouraging and vibrant place to try something new or expand your skills. Auditions are not required. [b]“Thoroughly enjoyable… it enabled me to learn many new skills and techniques.” Singers’ Weekend participant 2012[/b] [b]“I learnt a lot of valuable lessons from the week and was inspired by some incredible people.” One Week Jazz & Rock Course participant 2012[/b] The Jazz Summer School includes: [b] Singers' Weekend[/b] A unique large group workshop for singers from all backgrounds, working on jazz, gospel, African and world music. Led over two days by Scott Stroman, Lee Gibson, Gitika Partington, Lucky Moyo and guests, it culminates in a concert with a great band on the Sunday night. No music reading necessary—all learned and performed by ear! [b] One Week Jazz & Rock Course [/b] The long-running course for instrumentalists and singers begins on the Sunday evening and finishes with a huge concert on the Friday evening. All ages and abilities, and all instruments and vocalists, are welcome. The course includes jazz & rock bands and combos, big bands, vocal groups, classes in harmony, rhythm, and improvisation, instrumental and vocal classes, rock and Latin workshops, computer music. In the evenings there are tutor concerts and "the Club" - it's a busy and vibrant week. Classes and rehearsals run from 10am until 5:30pm daily, followed by Tutors' concerts from 7-8pm and the Club from 8:15-10pm.
