baa Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 (edited) I love double P's. I got 3 Vantage VP 710B and absolutely love the sound! Edited September 7, 2015 by baa Quote
spectoremg Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015
A few more of my BC Rich Eagle, since it made an appearance in the other thread: Showing the neckthrough... it's stained back, with the grain just visible if you try.
Pretty bass. I recall Larry Klein having a few of them on Joni Mitchell's '83 tour. Quote

John Schoen Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 This is a sketch of the bass that Peter Boer (Peterbuilt) is building for me at the moment. I hope it will be ready around the end of the year. It will have two DiMarzio Model Ps and a DiMarzio Will Power humbucker near the neck. It was inspired by my Yamaha Attitude; I wanted an extra P pickup because I love the sound of twin Ps. You haven't broken the three colour rule, the black hardware is awesome and 'blending' the humbucker into the scratchplate makes it look less fussy. When you get it post some vids cos I'd love to hear what it sounds like. Quote

That plus the Di Marzios of course. Quote
discreet Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Great, now I've got GAS for a Mocker. But if the pup configuration sounds anything like my Hayman.. Quote

Makes a lot more sense to me, and I do think the reverse Ps I've owned/played sound more tonally balanced across the strings than a standard P setup. Anyway - back on topic, I've never owned a double P bass (must be the only pickup configuration I haven't) and I really need to sort that out. There is very probably a Westone Thunder II in my future. Or a Balogh Odyssey. So much GAS... Jon. Quote

You really do need to experience it. With both sets of pups hammering away you can get some truly monstrous tones while still retaining excellent heft and definition. My Hayman just sounds massive. Eeeh, men were men back in the 70s, I tells ya. Quote
ezbass Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Thought I'd add something to this thread as I do like a double P. I added another p/up to a Roadworn I bought, now sold (I really can't remember why; GAS probably), sounded great IIRC.
