xilddx
I'd like one for my 83 Jazz, but it's an all in one PG. I just got quoted £170 from Sims as they are tricky to make apparently. Where can I get one at a reasonable price? Anyone here had one made? Cheers! Nx Edited June 18, 2013 by xilddx

Thank you! I have emailed them. Sims have got me a little worried though, they told me the process and why it costs so much, so I hope it's not going to end up being a nightmare. "We have to scan, create plot lines, cut out, sand, pollish, acid etch & then post out for anodising, pay for post out & return from the anodising company. It takse arround 3 to 4 weeks to complete. We certainly don't go booking our hollidays in the bahamas on the back of getting an anodised pickguard order that's for sure but that's what it takes to make a one off that is of good quality."
Yeah, Bass Doc and Shuker are on my list to contact now. Jon made me a brilliant mirror PG for my home build, but again, it's quite expensive as he had to make a template. Thanks G. KiOgon
Strangely - they do turn up from time to time in Uncle Horrid's garage I just recently scored a Jazz gold anodised plate from him - rare as a rare thing with bells & knobs on Mines going on an faded Olympic White, rosewood board fretless. You never know he might have a Jazz 'onesie' plate somewhere Best of luck.
xilddx
Just ordered the Strat PG. Genuine Fender aluminium gold anodised. £27 on ebay including delivery from the States The bass is going to have to be custom made.

xilddx
Looks like I will be going with an option Sims suggested .. karlfer
I made a mirror plate from the original white one, covered with what is basically sticky back plastic. A Stanley knife and 15 minutes and I was done. Can't find a "flat" gold sticky back plastic though!. When I sold the bass, I took the mirror effect sticky back plastic off. No residue, good as new. I don't think 54 quid's too bad tbh. The blank costs £30.
The Bass Doc
I have an 83 plate which I offered to have sprayed gold but I can also do the 'gold backed by black plastic' option.
