blablas
All the bracing and blocks are glued to the back. Finished the access cover transition to the body and mounted it. Next step, sanding flat the back, roughing up the front side and gluing on the top. blablas
Decided to give the final straight edge of the access cover a binding as well. Glued a reinforcement rib on the inside of the top, also drilled the small holes in the top (and back) for the toothpicks to align the top when gluing. blablas
At last after 1.5 weeks of preparing and gluing, today I've been happily busy with shaping the outside. Sanded the outer body contour, routed the radius on the edge of the body and and routed out the soundholes. The top: The back: Edited August 7, 2017 by blablas

blablas
Decided on the position where the knobs and switches should come and drilled the holes for these. Centered the holes for the single string bridge parts. Rough cut the wood for the neck. Wenge fingerboard, maple/wenge/maple/wenge/maple neck, merbau - with body matching walnut top - headstock. blablas
Glued on the headstock, including a (unplanned) layer of wenge due to a small thinking error wich meant the neck would be to short. blablas
And glued on the headstock veneer. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow it's the routers turn, leveling the surface of the neck and routing out the grooves for the truss rods. blablas
Leveled the top surface of the neck. And routed the grooves for the trussrods. The end of the grooves at the headstock side will be finished further on the milling machine I have available to me at work. Annoying Twit
Would it be too much to ask if you could give a fair number of details about how you progress from this laminated/stuck together neck to something that's smooth and beautiful, and looks like a single 'thing'? I'm very curious about how that process works.
blablas
Most of the gluing is done now, the shaping of the neck is coming up next and will be included in this diary,
