Ive heard alot about this guy. hes very popular on Talk Bass and ive heard lots of people saying hes a great bassist.. although i dont like knocking anyones playing, im wondering what hes all about.? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rAYOtP2aTs

Dunno about popular on talkbass, might just be in the amp section where he's one of those guys who keeps pulling 'I have played bass for ages so I know' as a counter straight up physics and engineering discussion. Kind of unimpressed with tuning really really low and then not having any low end in the sound.

He talks incessantly on Talkbass (and often talks rubbish or in a very cryptic manner so he doesn't have to qualify what he is saying). That said, he's tried loads of basses and seems to have some technical facility, but his playing mostly seems to be playing basses at trade shows. I've never thought he was great, not based on what I've seen. A great talker, musically devoid of good ideas.

I've got to say, a trade show demo isn't the best way to hear any musician. It's really about demonstrating some sounds from the instruments, which it achieves. I'd rather hear some actual recorded works before forming an opinion (and I haven't done that yet, so I'll shut up!). Judging a musician on the basis of forum posting style or trade show demo videos is not going to give you a very complete picture of them.
