The most useful, because it's always on, would have to be my Empress Compressor. But hey, this type of question doesn't make any sense to me, how much fun is a pedal board with only one pedal? ;)

If I really could only have one pedal I might try the Zoom MS-60B (http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/ms-60b).

A tuner would be my choice for only *pedal* ... but it's not an *effect pedal*, is it?

It depends really on what sort of music you play & what sort of sound you're after. It's a bit like asking "what sort of car should I get".

My most useful pedal is the Moog Low Pass Filter. It's the only pedal that I rarely turn off & does so much for "just" a filter pedal.

it's like asking "if you could only have ONE string on your bass, which one would you pick?" - but saying that, it'd be an xotic bass BB preamp (and an E string!)...

Hi,

I you were limited to one effect pedal, which one is most useful to you?

BDDI for me. Ive got a Zoom B3 thats got loads of effects in it, but the BDDI is the only thing i use now. Always on and sitting on my amp so i can tweak it without bending down.

Zoom B3.

But if we`re talking only one actual effect, probably some form of drive pedal. The Bass BB on the B3 is what I use, which is based on the Xotic Bass BB Preamp, so that would be my choice.
