xgsjx
Trying to get a couple of rock guitards to play something different (despite them saying "yes, we wanna try something new") & so far I'm having about as much luck as a homeless guy. So with that, can anyone suggest some good songs that have 2 guitars, keys, drums & bass that don't sound like guitar band songs (rock, indie, punk & so on)? Chiliwailer
Check out Slowdive - Souvlaki. I used to listen to this many moons ago. They get great textures for their guitars.
FuNkShUi
We cover: No Diggity - Blackstreet Billie Jean - MJ Seed 2.0 - The Roots Bad Romance - Lady Gaga (This gets "funked up quite a lot) Dont You Want Me Baby - Human League These are all pretty easy to play, and would sound good with 2 guitars and keys. We make a point of trying to play songs you might not expect a pub band to play. Could tell you more but then you'd be playing our set list, and we cant have that

mike257
Trying to work up band-friendly arrangements of pop songs is always worth a go. Struggling with it a little bit in our function band at the mo as a few of the guys have no background in playing original music so aren't coming along as fast with the idea of arranging new ideas but we're getting there. Nice to step outside your comfort zone!
EssentialTension
Perhaps not what you're looking for but 60s Motown commonly has two or even three guitars. The guitars are different e.g. one Telecaster, one Gibson Firebird, one jazz-bodied Gibson. The parts are diferent e.g. one part is chord sequence, one part is fingerpick, one part is repetitive rif or counter-melody. EDIT: here's two of them: Edited June 18, 2013 by EssentialTension
