rw3cja Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Hello! I though you would like to know that there is a new post on my blog 'Jamerson Analysed'. The track is 'Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing' by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. This track, and the others that I have analysed can be found here http://jamersonanalysed.blogspot.co.uk/ Hope you enjoy it! Chris. Quote
steve-soar Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Fine piece, full of understanding, structured explaination and admiration. Great playing, too. Quote
JapanAxe Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Great playing on the vid too. I have that Jamerson book, and if I ever start to feel complacent about my playing, those lines soon put me right! Quote
kevin_lindsay Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 That's an amazingky detailed breakdown you've done mate, fantastic stuff, I've akways loved thst line. In fact, I had the privilege of playing it on an advert session for Burger King in Australia of all things while I was living there around 2000/2001 (I know, I know, but hry, it pays the bills! Hahaha). Quote
4 Strings Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 +1 to all these comments. Spent a long time learning and soaking in a number of Jamerson tracks for our Motown act, I sincerely love his playing and appreciate your own appreciation of him. Skilled piece of analysis and playing! (I've sent a link to my lad, just finished his musical degree this year, also a very capable bass player who appreciates JJ) Quote
risingson Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Really nice analysis, got a kick out of 'For Once In My Life' below actually, one of the best-constructed bass parts to ever be committed to a pop record. Quote
Wil Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Really interesting to read the analysis and great playing yourself Quote

niceguyhomer Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Thanks for that Chris, brilliant. Hard to believe he played those basslines with one finger (The Hook). Like your playing and great tone, as a matter of interest what strings are you using? Quote

rw3cja Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 [quote name='niceguyhomer' timestamp='1378016757' post='2194631'] Thanks for that Chris, brilliant. I'm just using some very old Dean Markley Blue Steels with a foam mute. Quote
sblueplanet Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Now the real test would be to only use the one finger like the great man himself. Be interesting to see you turn your reading skills to analysing some other bassists. Quote
thebigyin Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Fantastic playing Chris.....Jamerson was god of the Bass....in my humble opinion. Quote
