Electric Wizard Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Hi all. I'm looking at two combos and would appreciate some advice on which would be most suitable for practice and gigging. They are the TC Electronic BG250 and the Peavey Tour TKO 115. Thanks Quote
tonyquipment Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I have the bg250 It's nice and light. Packs a good punch for the spec. Very modern sounding amp with the mod cons Quote
gary mac Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Us lot will be better placed to offer advice if we know what you want to achieve, what sort of band/genre you play in, type of instrument etc. Quote
Electric Wizard Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Thanks guys. I'M playing an Epiphone Thunderbird pro 4 with active pickups. I'm just getting back into playing after a long hiatus and want to be doing something pretty heavy. Trying to get a doom metal band going, but not going to be downtuned too far. Also looking to get into a wedding type of outfit as well, so looking something loud but versatile as well. Thanks for your help Quote
Lozz196 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Well I think, given the genre, I`d check out one of these Gallien Krueger 212 combos. At 40lbs, and a full 500 watts, has to be worth a look. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/210401-gallien-krueger-mb212-ii-500w-combo/page__pid__2116335#entry2116335 Quote
Electric Wizard Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Actually ive just been offered a Warwick pro fet 5.1 500w head and a Warwick WCA 211 400w 2x10 cab for a good price. Does this sound like a good set up and will it do what I want? Quote
Spike Vincent Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 You can't go wrong with an old Peavey, although they weigh a ton, Quote

[/quote] Bloody hell, why didn't I think of that??!! I ended up going for the Peavey Tour TKO. Seems to tick all the boxes I'm looking for. The main thing that put me off the BG250 was its inability to take an extension cab. Thanks for your help everyone Edited June 22, 2013 by Electric Wizard Quote

If not G-K, the BG250 is a solid combo. Quote
gsgbass Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) I just went for the GK MB210-ll Combo. A great amp. Edited July 4, 2013 by gsgbass Quote
