Some musician friends at the time, played an instrumental (keys, sax, percussions, guitar) for the walk , then after the vows I picked up the bass and played "your the best thing" Gladys Knight

First dance - All my lovin' by Dan Reed Network

First dance we cheated a bit.
The band we had playing were the first band I was in, and managed to round them up from various parts of the country to play the gig.
Obviously I got up and done a song with them, but what the rest of the guests didn't know was wifey was going to sing. So I done my song, then the singer dragged the missus up and we done Don't get me wrong by the Pretenders. Seemed to go down better than a first dance!
Probably the most nervous she had been all day!

We were in the middle of dartmoor, recorded music was not an option, neither was a band.
I had my friend Rachel play REO Speedwagon on a Cello in the lashing rain, not a bad joke.
We had readings like in church services, but they were from Marvin Gaye and Chaka Khan, (I wanted the Speedwagon lyrics, but the missus read them first and made me change it to something nice)
Oh, and I managed to get some KISS lyrics into the vows as well.
All very fun.

.

Oooh! What a great choice!

We had two ceremonies. The one in Holland featured an ex-girlfiend of mine playing the flute, and my sister playing on a late 17th century pipe organ. They did some music I'd written, which was cool.
The one in Norway featured friends of my wife, and they did some music she had done with them earlier. That too was cool.

As others in this thread, and much to the distress of my F-i-l, we too walked the aisle together.

best,
bert

My Wife walked in to Hans Zimmer - You're So Cool (you might know it from True Romance
http://youtu.be/jq5kbNW8VKU

and our first dance was the Cure - Feels like heaven (poor version by our wedding band unfortunately)

'Feels like Heaven' by Future Factory, or 'Just like Heaven' by The Cure. Maybe that mixup explains the bad version by the band ;-)

We were supposed to have A Thousand Years by Christina Perri for her to walk down the aisle to, followed by I Never Would Have Thought by Rancid (with the swearing edited out) for signing the register and then the Wallace And Grommet theme for leaving the registry with Accidentaly In Love by Counting Crows (from Shrek 2) for any stragglers.

However, despite the CD player working fine before the ceremony when guests were arriving, and me testing the CD with those songs on before anyone arrived with everything being fine, the CD player completely packed up and refused to work when the wife was about to walk down the aisle, which she ended up having to do in silence. She wasn't too pleased about this, not being the type who enjoys being the centre of attention at the best of times.

Edit: first dance was Muse's cover of I Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Andy Williams, I also did a cover for her of The Beach Boys God Only Knows, singing and playing guitar on my own to varying degrees of success: I got applause, but people are pretty much obliged to when it's your wedding.
