London gigs

We're after organizing a show case gig at a London venue. Original heavy rock:

Anyone got any suggestions for somewhere central ish to approach?

Haven't played there for a few years but the Underworld in Camden certainly used to be a focal point for the heavy rock/metal/thrash scene

Also could try The Purple Turtle in Camden?

Dunno if it's still going (been a heck of a long time!) but there used to be a venue on the cromwell road. Was called the Orange, but later changed to West One Four.
Probably a sainsbury's or something now

I think it's been some else as well since West One Four. Turtle Something or Something Carrot springs to mind. It's now called Black Velvet, see [url="http://www.blackvelvetlondon.co.uk/"]http://www.blackvelvetlondon.co.uk/[/url]. It's on North End Road which connects Cromwell Road to Hammersmith Road. I played there in 199-something when it was still the Orange. A good venue but the load in is up a flight of stairs that turns a corner mid-way up, ouch.

That brings a few memories..was often down there early 90's..
and was indeed the Orange Club at the time

God that's going back, what, at least ten years?!

And the rest. I used to roadie for a band probably nearly 16 years ago when it was the Orange, and the last one I done it had changed names so probably 14 years!
The staircase was a right pig, quite wide though so a 2 man carry.

I recall carrying a SWR 410 Goliath ll up those stairs a good few times....and that would been around
'93, maybe..
