of course, there is no single best list!

I would add the following (restricting to one song per band/artist):

for the love of money - o jays
message from the meters - the meters
Kid Charlemagne - Steely Dan
walking on the moon - The Police
addicted to that rush - Mr. Big
strange brew - Cream
fire - Hendrix
signed sealed delivered - Stevie Wonder
graceland - Paul Simon
in france they kiss on the main street - Joni Mitchell

is this list compiled by some lazy journo who has just gone on to spotify and itunes and looked up popular downloads of each artist and made a sort of randomly haphazard collection then probably added some copy that would make nathan barley blush

and is it some sort of subtle irony that the webpage shows us james brown but bootsie collins does not feature in the list??

anyways it must be wrong because john taylor and rio isnt in there :o

This looks definitive. I can't imagine anyone arguing with this. Glad that's sorted.

+ 2

Musicradar also have Duran Duran's John Taylor voted best bassist of all time (James Jameson was 11th and Jaco 5th) - yes undoubtedly a definitive poll result that one as well.

At least I had some familiarity with about half of them. I must get out more.

Yep me too.

Seems more like a list of most recognisable lines over a wide range of folk, rather than best

If youd actually bothered to read the article you would have discovered its the the result of a poll involving 10,000 people. I presume your accusation of laziness was intentionally ironic.

yes i did

12 lines of copy plus 1 or 2 lines for each of the 25 songs ... hardly ball breaking stuff though by anybody's standards is it

I'd be more impressed if they actually said what percentage of the 10,000 each of the songs listed actually received. Why would the majority choose What's Going On over any other Jameson track and i'd love to know how many votes Pusherman got.

On the other hand, who really cares?
