BassTractor
There are 10,000 people who know what a bass line is?
Yup! And 16,000 others on BC who do not. best, bert
Lowender
What's Going On isn't a line. It's a bass symphony. As for the list ...it's just a stupid list. Anyone can compile a list of songs that feature an instrument and call it "the best." And people will get in line to debate it.
yepmop
Obligatory James Jamerson tune, the reality is that the list should TOTALLY be made up of James Jamerson bass parts. lojo
It seems its a fair poll, but list has to be understood it was voted by a wide range of people, some who where simply voting on songs they knew had strong basslines, but I doubt many of those voting for muse would know much about JJ (either of them) or jaco etc. Not surprised under pressure got a lot of votes from the general public over Edwards. timmo
Does anyone remember a poll that was taken place a few years a go on TV, the Brit Awards and the best song in the last 25 years by the British public, plus the best song to have never have been number 1 by VH1 written, was Angels- Robbie Williams? When you think that list of songs that never got to number 1 includes My Generation - The Who, Alright Now- Free and Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty, amongst others, then that is a massive claim in my opinion. That is how seriously these lists should be taken.
