Thoughts on order

There's no hard rule, try different orders and choose what sounds good to you.

Other than that, there are many, many web sites that give rules of thumb; search for pedal board order, effects pedal order, pedal chain order, etc.

If anyone says your pedals Should go in any certain order, don't listen to them.
Play about, it's 1/2 the fun of having a board. I like my filter after my dirt, some folk prefer it before. Neither of us are wrong.
Shep's bass blog on effects is a good read.

the only 'rule' per sé is that if your pedals are mostly 'true bypass' it's useful to either start or end with a buffered one as that helps keep the top end in your signal...

apart from that, have a happy afternoon playing switcheroo with the order to find one that works for you!

I always put a tuner first so that it is receiving the unencumbered signal from the bass.

I always put a compressor last so it smoothes the peaks before it hits my amp..

What happens inbetween is up to you...do you want to flange your dirt or dirty your flange?

Any order you want, play around see what souds best.

Common thing is to put a compressor last, to even dynamics but mine is actually in a desperate loop with an EQ after everything. Putting the eq before the compressor seemed to destroy the lows and even loose all presence. Now it's after the overall sound is more airy and retaining much more low end.

Also what ever you stick down doesn't get set in stone so it's very easy to switch stuff around.

Aye have a play around with various orders! You may be tempted to put your tuner at the front of the chain, but try it without the tuner as well. I put my tuner in a loop at the start of chain as it sucked the life out of my tone when in line - others haven't had this issue with the very same tuner (TU-2).
Have a look at how buffered pedals (Boss etc) can affect your fuzz/OD/distortion pedals before and after. Depending on how dynamic a player you are you may well notice a difference when you put it before.
While I subscribe to the "there are no rules" rule, you will almost certainly get no joy by putting a Fuzz Face derivative (Woolly Mammoth is the most likely on bass) after a buffered pedal.

For what it's worth, when it comes to drive pedals I found that going from highest gain to lowest gain was my preference. Again, not all subscribe to this either!

If you've not had chance yet, trawl the Post Your Pedalboard thread for some ideas about what others are doing. You may come across something you've not thought of yet!!!

Oh and post a pic when you decide what you like best when you're done :)
