I'm going to be cheeky and ask for a raise, the price of rizlas has gone up again.

Well done everyone. Some excellent songs there & some could even go into your band's setlist. :)

It's good to see a lot of entries too.
I'm looking forward to July's & should get something recorded this time (had too many months of getting the idea down & then no time to get it finished :( ).

I was torn between Bilbo and Skol. I eventually went with Bilbo, it's the perfect sound track for that photo.
It's the first time I've listened to all the entries(and the first time I've voted), and the quality of material is superb.
Thanks to all who entertained me, that was a real good listen.
I might bring the overall level down a bit by trying my hand, next time.
This could be addictive...

Great to see so many entries this month and even better to see so many people have took the time to vote, hope you all come back and repeat the experience. Thanks everyone for listening and for the constructive criticism, after all that's how we (I use the term 'we' loosely in this gathering of talent) get better at this, 12 months ago I had never recorded a thing and now I am totally addicted, I even do my dogs head in never mind the wife's as all my recording is done in the living room with a laptop and software :) .

Actually I think it should be 'Well done Skoll & Urb'.... :D
[Not forgetting the other two of course]

So... well done you two [or 4?] - great track and nicely put together,
It's not easy putting things together over the Internet.....

Thanks folks! It was a team effort by Mike (urb), Rebecca, Donnie and myself - and one that I'm proud of :)

It wasn't the easiest thing to do but only because of the short time we had. As mentioned, we're now forming a loose 'collective' with the aim of writing new material in the autumn (in fact the ideas have already started...), which is very exciting.

Really great to see so many votes this month - thanks to Douglas, Nige, Silvia and others for plugging it! And even better to have so many entries, including new faces. Good stuff.

We'll get back to you with a pic for next month ASAP. Rick: Mike or I will send it via PM. Oh and good to see you weren't voted an idiot... Indisputable proof there mate. Cherish it :D

Cheers,

Paul

...and rightly so. Well done, team.
One extra mention for SpaceChick, for coming 2nd, no mean feat given the quality of all the entries, without exception. Well done, miss.
As for all the others: you'll now have to try even harder if you're to beat the 'Dream Team'..! No sooner over than it starts again, with a new pic (coming shortly, I'm sure...).
A good one, this month...

I did a quick search to have a listen to the back catalogue of entries for the composition competition and went as far back as September 2012(I love Jamiemillsbass entry ; nice heavy ending). Was September 2012 the first competition?

Cheers,

Phil.

Not sure exactly when it started but I'd love it if we could do one mega-thread (to be pinned) with all 12-month's entries on... that would be very interesting listening...

Great fun! And hearty congratulations to the winner(s)! I'm really stoked to have achieved nearly 13% of the vote with a piece that has no vocals, no story, no structure and no bass guitar on it... :) Big thanks to those who voted and bigger thanks to those who voted for my entry! ;)

Yep, September 2012 was when it all started... the idea came from Charic - and a great idea it was too! :) [he does have them occasionally...].

Here's a link to all of them. Might be worth stickying this info in the Recording forum - or dare I say even in the General Forum!? - as a running record of the music we make each month:

Ok, here's the image for July as chosen by Mike (urb)...

That should spark a few ideas! Great picture :) Charic will launch the 'official' July thread later on...

What's the picture then ?

Looks like an opening shot for a 70's Disco theme. Hand bags, flares, stack boots, Durex machines and top floor exclusive clubs.................... :D
