Geejay
I'm hoping to do a few small gigs with a couple of guitarist mates (well one sings really well but only plays a bit). We don't have a drummer but thought we'd try a drum machine or software. We're after simple but reasonable quality. Software would probably give more flexibility in the long run, extra guitars, keys, horns etc. Anyone gig like this? What works? ianrunci
Cakewalk sonar 6 or 7 and just use the TSS standard softsynth in it to edit midi files then just stick em either on minidisc or convert them to MP3 or wavs a play back on a laptop We sometimes use midifiles for the keyboard parts and the drummer plays with a click, if we work when the drummer isnt available we just bang the same files but with the drums enabled onto a minidisc and bobs your uncle
Oscar South
Alesis SR-16 machines are pretty good for performing, I've used mine live a bunch of times. Footpedal controls for tempo, start/stop and to hold the sequenced song looping on the current bar or programmed phrase for extended solos etc., they are maybe a bit retro but the sounds are still good quality and the interface is excellent and very intuitive (oh and they aren't very expensive).
