itsmedunc
It looks like he cut a hole in it and dropped a strat pickup in it to me! DarkHeart
i was expecting to see a les paul with a huge pickup route with a single coil tele pickup in the hole, tilted at a jaunty 15 degrees to maximise the frequency modulation of the wound bass strings and the plain treble strings to within a gnats chuff of perfection with a microbes relief thus enabling soft fingers to chime out barre chords and make finger picking a real joy especially to those poor unfortunates with sausage fingers. Dave Vader
also probably not a gibson, going by the lack of knobs (except for the one who did this to it)
tauzero
I really should keep up here. The single-coil pickup is an original fitting on a Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite M-111.
itsmedunc
Oh wow! You are absolutely right http://www.tdpri.com/forum/other-guitars-other-instruments/268643-nearly-impossible-find-gibson.html (scroll down). So, we actually have Gibson to thank for the amateur look!
tauzero
The words "It seemed like a good idea at the time" come to mind.
