cocco
Has anyone got an 80s explorer bass? The one with the grabber pickups. Or even a new one? What are they like to live with? I fear the new one is just a pointy T-bird.
FlatEric
Ash. . . . . . Now what are you after??? Not got a Gibson - got a 70's Ibanez Destroyer Bass - this one: http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/ibanez-2459b-destroyer-and-greco.html Very pointy! I have also played a couple of Epiphones - playing them with any confidence, like a lot of basses that sort of shape, is an acquired skill! You still got gas? Cheers. cocco
I've always got GAS, going through a ZZ top phase, always fancied an explorer for some reason.

Mickeyboro
I had one like Eric's. A great posing bass! But I find EB-3 more comfy
Shaggy
Yup; see 3rd post down tho' not great pics: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/76091-gibson-porn/page__st__60 Genuinely great bass to the point it was my main gigging bass for a couple of years - reverse body perfect for my right hand technique, hottest passive pickups I've ever played, Gibson's best bridge (because it's a Schaller ), and medium scale makes for a very fast neck. Tone a bit more Fender-y than a T'bird, and no neck dive (unlike some T'birds). Only downside is fitting the case the size of an aircraft carrier in the back of a small hatch..... cocco
I know the pickups, they're the bill Lawrence designed ones in the grabber that I used to have. I loved the tone on that. You don't want to sell it do you?

SPHDS
I have a black Epi as my main gigging bass. always liked the shape, so snapped one up when it appeared on EvilBay, would have loved a Korina or OE White one, but hey, still love it in black! It felt a tad unwieldy to begin with compared with my Ibby, but soon got used to it and find it comfy to play. It sounds great and gets loads of comments! bigsmokebass
From the new one I tried (faded sunburst). it practically is a TBird but there is a different feel to it, even with the thunderbird neck :S I had to go home and think deeply on it before leaving the shop but damn, I'm still not sure now! For the sake of another shape to my collection, think I may go for one for all the wrong reasons LOL. BSB
