Ive been playing bass for 17 years, but in the last 7 years, really wanted something more. dont get me wrong, i so dig my/our instrument. ive always had a passion for harmony, but playing the piano over the recent years, and listening to what is possible between the two has had me in trance. i played with a fantastic keys player from holland on the weekend that cemented the passion that i have for harmony. the bass will always be my go to instrument, but the piano has some amazing musical possibilities. im sure there are lots of guys/girls on BC that feel this way.

That's pleonastic, that is. ;) :D

I think I can sense where you're coming from. For me, playing keys was always about harmonic development first and foremost. Now trying to play bass, I don't miss it though. The harmony is either implied or loud and clear in my head.

That said, it's an old pet peeve of many, incl. me, that every musician should play the piano as well.
Might I add the drums?

best,
bert
