TRBboy Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Wow. Just wow. Friggin amazing! The bass playing is incredible, especially when he gets chance to rip it up a bit! Check it out Quote
Mickeyboro Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Straining to hear any bass on my Travelodge telly Quote

jaybass 70 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 He should be playing a musicman ! The jazz isn't cutting it for me , also the mix isn't great I can't extract any decent bass sound from my system, I love chic but the drummer is wrecking it for me , he's playing too much , great to see Nile doing his thing though Quote
clashcityrocker Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Some seriously good playin right there Quote

I'm not much of a chic officionado so I don't know what the bass should sound like, but I think his sound is really nice. I think it's an Atelier Z. Quote
bagsieblue Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Yep - Bass sounds good to me. Good funk bass tone. Quote
4 Strings Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 (edited) THe bass player is having and giving a lot fun and is great. Not as classy as 'Nard, way more busy and somehow less impressive and the sound much less defined. Enjoying it though! I wonder that he's been in the band longer than 'Nard by now so which is the 'real' sound? Edited June 28, 2013 by 4 Strings Quote
Duarte Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I love how he doesn't try and be Bernard. Sounds great! Cannae wait to see them next weekend! Quote
Mr Bassman Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Takes me back a few years when I played a lot of these songs on my 75 jazz which I bought new and still own. Quote
paulconnolly Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Really enjoying this. Agreed that the sound is a bit iffy but nothing new there about a BBC broadcast. Bass is cutting through well enough for me and it sounds great. The girls are hot too Quote
paulconnolly Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Let's Dance. That empty mic at the front should ideally be occupied by DB - no? Quote
Mickeyboro Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Lord the drummer thinks he's Bowie. I'm boycotting my licence fee! Quote

I hate that modern Jazz sound anyway, but in this context its even worse. Bernard is one of my favourite players and this just isn't even close in tone or feel. Very disappointing. Quote
Gunsfreddy2003 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I watched the set streamed live so finished watching it just now. How the hell does het that tone? Looked like GK amps in the background. Quote

Mr Bassman Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Great horns, did you hear that sax solo about half an hour ago? Quote

Genuine question not trying to be difficult Quote
Donnyboy Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 " Yes , what I would call a very "Cruise Ship "performance". To quote Sir Simon Cowell" great playing but lacking something Quote
yorks5stringer Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Pretty sure that's a Sadwosky he's playin.... Quote
