Kiwi
Ellie Goulding's Halcyon Days - I really don't like the marketing hype around her but musically she just keeps getting better and better.

Roland Rock
"Big Inner" by Matthew E White". I can't remember how long it is since I've been so overwhelmed by an album - it's beautiful. The overriding feel for me is Deep South gospel and soul, but other descriptions reference country and psychedelica too. The vocals are soft and comforting, the arrangements are quirky and imaginative, the production sublime. Every one of the seven magnificent songs has a really good 'second movement' or extended outro. Could just be me though; I made a copy for Mrs RR and she said she got bored :-D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n8YgcBw09c&feature=plpp http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE657ED0F1BBCC627
seashell
Chatma by Tamikrest Beautiful Arabic/rock cross over. Very haunting and powerful. Vocals are superb and there is some very nice bass playing frrom CheickTiglia. It's ages since I've bought a new album, but heard this on 6 music and just had to get it. It's available on vinyl too, although I had to get the CD version as my hi-fi is currently out of action.

I freakin love it! miles'tone
Praxis Makes Perfect by Neon Neon. I went to see the show earlier this summer. It was a gig/360 degree theatrical show that the whole crowd was in/history and politics lesson..and freedom fighting rock n roll! Best and most original show I've ever seen The album is great. EliasMooseblaster
As I'm going to see DP next month I thought I'd better give Now What another go yesterday. Played it a few times back to back when it first came out but then neglected it. You're right it's abetter album than I first thought, some of the tracks have a similar feel to the material from Abandon from the mid-90's which tends to get overlooked.
Good to know I'm not the only person who enjoyed Abandon! I may have to give this new one a try. Now then...don't know if I've actually bought an album that was released this year! I can recommend a brand new band though - they formed this year and have only released a few tracks but they're definitely worth hearing. Hailing from deepest, darkest Surrey, I give you Stitch: http://stitchband.bandcamp.com/
