I have an audition on Wed evening for a new band and they do some Steely Dan stuff, so I've been practicing Josie as they want to hear that on Wed. I also found the notation to Deacon Blues and have been going through that this evening among other things and I'm just blown away by that bass line!! It has everything, subtle key and time changes, chromatic stuff just so so well written.

Some of the other stuff I've been learning for the audition in case you are remotely interested; A night like this - Caro Emerald. Never Forget You - The Noisettes. Upside Down - Paloma Faith. Long Train Running - Doobies.

.....but man that Steely Dan!!!!

Wish me luck!

Sounds like a great set from a bass player's perspective.
Hope it goes well for you.

Thanks for your good wishes Debs xx. Well audition over and it went well, I was happy with my playing and we did 10 ish numbers in all. Seem like a good bunch, unfortunately their singer couldn't make it (sore throat and sniffles) but we made do. I won't find out whether I got the gig for a few days as they have other players to see. ATM they have a dep covering their booked gigs (Rachel Lane) from Gloucester who is rather sh*t hot from what I can make out. Tough act to follow I guess. Anyway, it would be great to get in but there is always someone better than you out there.

I'll let you know!
