I don't understand why [i][b]Emerson Lake & Palmer [/b][/i]and[i][b] Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe[/b][/i] sound like firms of lawyers, while [color=#0000ff][i][b]Crosby Stills Nash & Young[/b][/i][/color] sound really really cool.

Quite a few indie bands had pretty strange names: Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, The Frank & Walters etc.

I'm on thin ice though - one of my first bands was called Uncle Sam and his Gardening Kecks of Doom. Still have no idea how we came up with that rubbish, but it's a pretty good demonstration of why under-age drinking is not clever.

I am sad that I will go to my grave never having been in a band called Anal ****. I would have enjoyed sharing that with my aunties, and the vicar. I remember a sixties band called Hogsnort Rupert and his Good Good Band. And Hatfield and the North was pretty cool.

'Public Foot the Roman' were a regular feature of the college circuit in the late 70s. Great name.

There is a local band called The Shy Teds.
Bad names could include Thousand Yard Stare, Cradle of Filth and Plain White T`s

I'm going to add my own band to this: Freddie Goes To Mercury. I'm personally not a fan and would love to shorten it to simply, "Freddie" but I'm afraid we live in a democratic society!

I suppose its marketing but a " bad " name will stick in peoples minds and therefore its a "good " name : Throbbing Gristle, Nurse with wound, cop shoot cop , I rememeber them all despite the fact that i can hardly remember what I had for breakfast !

There was a brilliant local band in Coventry back in the early 90s called Dirtbox. I had their demo tape and it was ace, but some bastard nicked it.

I saw them a couple of times. Most memorable gig was them supporting Godflesh at the General Wolfe.

Godflesh and Dirtbox. Sounds like a firm of solicitors who specialise in religious delusion and buggery cases.

Nicely done. Mine was called 'Bat Scrap'. In our defence we were twelve at the time and thought it was very sophisticated.
