Ruiner
So someone over at the offset guitars forum has posted details of these, apparently due to be launched later this year. Street price of $349 So I'd imagine they'd be around the £300 mark over here. If they're as good as the recent VM models these could be great value considering the only other way of getting a traditional spec Bass VI is the MIJ models that seem to be around £1300 at the moment. Here's the thread for anyone interested: http://www.offsetgui...php?f=6&t=71490
njr911
I fancy a Porn (sic) Shop VI with the matching hs but for £300 a white VM might be very tempting.
BetaFunk
I fancy a Porn (sic) Shop VI with the matching hs but for £300 a white VM might be very tempting.
They do love to mix things up at Fender don't they? This Squier has the 4 switches and similar PUs to the original Bass Vi but no Tremiolo lock. The Pawn Shop has the 5-way Strat type switching, an odd choice of PUs but it does have a Tremoio lock plus the Candy Apple Red PS is the only one out of all them that has a matching H/S. I wonder what gauge strings Fender will use on the Squier? Going by their recent form, probably nothing like what we expect. P.S. On saying all of that the Squier Bass VI is great news and looks like a bargain to me. Edited July 3, 2013 by BetaFunk
mart
Ooh, lucky I didn't just buy the Pawn shop version - I reckon the Squier will be even better value. Now I just need to find an excuse for needing "yet another guitar".

Don't forget that the PS also has the magic word 'Fender' on the headstock.
Lasermonkey
Even though I bought a PS VI, I'll still be getting one of these. I'll use one as a baritone and one as a bass, with different string gauges. Edited July 3, 2013 by Lasermonkey
A little button that locks the tremolo in place, stopping it from moving.
1970
are there issues with the tremolo moving around otherwise?
Cyrene
String breakages are a pain without it.
Cyrene
I'll be after one of these if the neck has the 'Classic Vibe' finish rather than the recent 'VM' finish. The satin felt weird to me.
AndyTravis
I think I'll either get one of these or hang on for a Pawn shop 2nd Hand. The Pawn shop is a great instrument, It's fantastic for particular sounds.

skej21
Good but the cabronita telecaster with lic. Bigsby and the range of new colours in the 70s and 77 VM Jazz basses trump these IMO.
