Fitted the strings, Fender trem & shimmed the neck with a bit of plastic credit card. Tensioned up the spring in the trem & locked it off, adjusted bridge up & saddles (Staytrem) for intonation, and left overnight to settle.

Plays like a dream. Pics in next few days.

Anyone got a whammy bar that fits the Fender trem unit? The Squier one is s gnat's whisker too small!

I am not at home so can't check but isn't the Squier a push fit but the Fender is screw fit?

At the moment I don't know, but a 5mm screw does't fit - maybe a 5.5mm? I'm looking, really, for a black one with no tip.

Just shot an enquiery to Staytrem, who seem to do one. Bit expensive though.

Sure, thank you. But do you know of any online shop where I can get it for a good price?

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking.

For price I would need to google etc. but in the UK I'd be expecting to pay probably £40-£50 I guess.

I would also really appreciate if somebody could give me some advice about what pickups I could use to upgrade it :) I already know the ones made by The Creamery, but I find them quite too expensive

Can anyone tell me what sort of space these things have for controls etc.? Would a darkglass tone capsule preamp fit?
[/quote]

There isn't much space to spare if the Darkglass has more than a volume pot and a tone pot.

You MIGHT get it in if you used the jack socket hole for one of the controls, but you'd need to bore a hole for a side entry jack, and I suspect you'd need to get a craftsman to install a battery box in the back of the bass as that would involve the removal of a fair amount of wood, then there's the wiring to the stereo out socket........

Mmmmm.

Personally, I plug into an MXR 80 outboard pre.

Even then I doubt it would fit. The Darkglass unit is three tone controls and requires you to keep the original volume control, plus you need to find room for the pre-amp block and a battery.

As I keep saying what's wrong with the controls on your amp? The ones on mine do everything I need to compliment the sound from the Bass VI.
