'Bass' (musical instrument) pronounced 'Base'. Bass (fish) pronounced 'Bass'. Basswood pronounced 'Basswood' not 'Basewood'
Welcome to pedants corner.

According to Apostrophe, the Greek goddess of punctuation, it's 'pedants' corner'...

In defence of pedants, most of them (OK, us) just love language as much as music and seeing the wrong word hurts just like hearing a bum note.

Lose - Be unable to find (something). Loose - Not secured. (BTW.I had to actually look up a dictionary to find how to define 'Lose' without actually using the word 'Lose'.Try it.) ALSO:

UK - Buoy.Pronounced 'Boy'. USA - Booey.

"It's an ancient language". And it isn't, it's just got more Viking in it than other English dialects.

I was speaking Geordie, so Poo to you.

And If you are going to be a real pedant it would be and pronunciation, not pronunciations.

Ford (brand) + Fiesta (model) = Ford Fiesta.
Reliant (brand) + Robin (model) = Robin Reliant.
What?

As a former Reliant owner, this drives me nuts. As does referring to Del boy's van as such. It was a Regal III, ffs...

It isn't a Robin Reliant, it's a Reliant Robin. Just because Jasper Carrott called it a Robin Reliant doesn't mean that it's true.

SuperVan III, Shirley? A drummer mate (who only had a bike license) had one in the 80s, and that's what his said on the back. Bloody terrifying, it was.

Was this before the advent of the Trade Descriptions Act (1968)? :)

Very probably. It was falling-to-bits ancient in 1985!
