GET YOUR PEAVEY's OUT - American Rudy Sarzo Signature

Just replying to who asked what has happened to the Peavey Rudy Sarzo series, it seems he's gone back to playing Spector basses more now.
He apparently used a Spector with Geoff Tit's rip off of Queensryche to record "Frequency Unknown" and has been seen using them more live than any other basses. Also he's switching a lot between the Acoustic amps and Ampeg amps on the road but yeah, the Spectors are what he's using with Queensryche.
Maybe Geoff asked (told) him to use them as Eddie Jackson used to use them with QR back on "Operation: Mindcrime" and the such.

Sorry, back to the Peavey porn now! :P

I have two Peaveys, great little basses both of them, firstly a US Peavey G5, quite rare I think, with a graphite neck and 3 band eq, great growl to it, a lovely playable and stable neck with a beautiful graphite weave, an all round great bass.
Second is a US made Millennium 4 plus, flame maple top, birds eye maple neck and fingerboard and hipshot extender, top of the range when this first came out! Again a great sounding bass, with what is possibly the most comfortable neck I have ever played, and I own a Ken Smith, Elrick, 2 Sadowsky's and Zon. This has the best neck bar none!

Peavey makes excellent basses. I have two, a 1980 T40, which is my main bass, and a modern Grind BXP. Both were inexpensive to buy, astonishing variety of sounds, great necks (the grind is neck through, bought for less than 400 EUR in Italy), solid and dependable. And that's all the way through their range. In general, people that "dare" to try one are impressed by the overall quality.

And that Rudy Sarzo model looks phenomenal, good enough to eat!

Ok Kiwi fair point. I have amended my post in light of your comments. It doesn't have the multiple layered exotic woods of the higher range Alembics, but it is beautifully put together and plays a quite a bit like one.

Rudy was inspired after playing a friends Alembic - this inspired the design of the Peavey Sarzo.

Lovely stuff, sone very rare birds in that pic.

Sarzos and Peaveys in general are desperately overlooked. I picked up this one earlier this year on a local site, low price but there was just no interest in it. It's interesting reading people's comments on the inspirations for it. To my ears, there's a real MM vibe from the pickups making me think he looked to his old Sabre for the tone, the SB for the looks. Great bass for the money they go for, cost less than a second hand Mexi P.

I have a Peavey these days: budget priced Millennium. £179, made in Vietnam, has neck dive because the head is stupid; but boy does it sound good, and the neck is brilliant and smooth. Full on the bridge pickup, 80% on the neck and roll off the tone and it's very Jazz-like. I do hit the strings hard too, so even with half-wounds I get a lovely punch.

Ok - can't work out how to add an attachment into this post or my content. The Bass is my profile pic though. *grumbles about modern technology*

Finally got a friend round to take the Clan Gathering photo :)

After much moving of furniture we got them all in frame, still not swapped the switches on one of the T-40s so it's missing,Cirrus should have changed places with the Dyna to get seen better.

It's a big picture so I've went the Photobucket route, just click the photo. Hope you folks enjoy it :)
