Bit of a thread revival with a nice review from Northern Sky

"Utterly dramatic, as their name suggests, the music of London-based sextet All The Queen's Ravens has all the theatricality of a burlesque side show, equally matched by the band's dazzling presentation. With a dozen songs written by the outfit's two enigmatic singers Laura Hillman and Charlotte Aggett, together with guitarist Luke John Wills, the band take us on a joyride through a musical landscape filled with a mixture of gospel, flamenco, jazz-tinged blues, folk stylings and Native American chants, each performed with a tight and confident delivery.

The energy and flamboyance of the band's live performances is captured on this their debut album, which maintains an attention-grabbing attitude through to the end. With a particular Anglo-Spanish feel, especially of such songs as the enticing opener Aura Negra, the expressive Las Vegas Parano, inspired by Hunter S Thompson's Fear and Loathing exploits and the Fado-esque Profundo. Completing the line-up is Camilla Johns on mandolin, Clarky on bass and Rob Davies on drums and percussion. A thoroughly engaging debut."

Thanks! You can get the live experience too (as I see you are from London) as we are playing the Old Queen's Head in Islington next Wednesday, onstage just after 10pm. Its a good cause too as all the evening's profits go to Medecins Sans Frontieres' Typhoon appeal

Bugger. Unfortunately we're auditioning another candidate for our new singer that night...though I might be able to get up if you're not on 'til 10...I'll have to see how long the audition takes. (I can imagine the live experience is quite something!)

Just going to bump this thread to re-iterate what a bloody good album this is! I've been in danger of overplaying it the last couple of weeks, but several of the songs have been firmly stuck in my head the whole time. Monte Carlo is truly infectious as an earworm, and Joe is still making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Bloody good stuff sir, bloody good.

Thanks matey - much appreciated :)

Perhaps see you at a gig in New Year? - we have a couple booked in January (Sat 11th at Spice of Life in Soho, and Thurs 16th at The Finsbury, next to Finsbury Park)
