Gweb Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Hi, a bit of an odd request - I am looking for a vegetarian bass player (and guitarist as it happens) to do some bits of session work in the North West (Manchester) area but over the web possibly considered. Paid work; music is quite experimental - think NIN; lots of atmosphere, would prefer someone with metal leanings but not essential. Please PM me here on BC. Thank you. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Mmm , that's food for thought. But , as I am more of an Atkins diet man I'm out ! Don't do diets either. Have you spoke to morrissey? I went for an audition many years ago; 'we're left wing' and Mr. Drums is a veggie' . Left wing? I was thinking mmmm chicken wings. I flew off after about half an hout. Good luck with the search Quote

Ian Savage Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Too much beef in my tone. And I have too many chops. Quote
Urban Bassman Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Have you tried contacting Macca? I'll get my coat... Quote
bassfunk Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I'm a Northwest Bass player with metal leanings. I tend to be vegetarian at home (mainly to save money and try and keep the weight off), but I do eat meat on occassion If your criteria changes let me know :-) Quote
Gweb Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Thank you all for your replies. I have had some enquiries and there's a couple of people who look to fit the bill, all being well! Thanks again for the replies and humour Quote
ejd78 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I'm interested, are you still looking for a bassist? Quote
hairyhatman Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I promise not to eat meat during the session. Quote
Bassclef Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Not an odd request at all. You're halfway there Gweb, you just need to give up dairy and eggs as well Quote
bigd1 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 How does not eating meat effect the way you play ?? Quote
Bassclef Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 1) Perhaps the music is "political." It's no different to a Christian band asking for a Christian bass player. 2) It won't, but you may live longer. Quote

Gweb Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 Bassclef is right; it's due to a political angle of the project specifically. There's a couple of people on a shortlist now but anyone should feel free to PM / send over any links or introductions. Quote

The steaks are high... Just out of interest, is there anything stopping someone just pretending to be a veggie to get the job? Quote
hairyhatman Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 If God didn't mean for us to eat animals then why did he make them out of meat? Quote

[/quote] and then when the producer finally declares 'it's a wrap' , you pull out the secret bacon sandwich but as you say joking aside, when you audition how would you know whether anyone is veggie or not? Bassclef Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Why is it that meat-eaters often resort to "humour" when they encounter a veg*n? Perhaps what we have to say might make you feel a bit uncomfortable so you try to deflect attention away from the real issues? Guys, the jokes are crap and pointless. Please leave it out, we've heard them all before. Quote
