The market is slow. I guess my next stop is Ebay where I will start at £450. By the time I have payed all the fees + stuff it will cost me close to £50 anyway so here it is for £400 (Paypal gift of bank transfer). Ta, like.

Mid 60s thumpy goodness. Single pickup. Flats mid scale. Big bodied semi - not Beatles stuff.. The tone control needs fixing but I live in a place where no one can do that stuff. I will knock £20 off for that. Pics up later but doing this while I remember. £ only. No trades.

Step back 45 years to the sort of bass your dad (or maybe your grandad) learned to play on.

That glorious tobacco sunburst finish is a true picture, it really is that rich. The bass is all original, and has picked up a couple of marks along the way. There's a none-too-obvious blemish on the front and a repaired hole on the back. The neck was re-set in 2007 by the top Hofner man in London (Andy Gibson, who does all of Music Ground's and Macari's Hofners).

She's strung with period-correct flats and high-ish action.

Sound? Woody. No, very woody. No really, I mean seriously woody. Can easily deliver a truly superb, dark dub sound but switch in an instant to a classic Beatles tone.

This case has more mojo than Muddy Waters. This case looks like it stepped out to the corner shop in 1969 for a packet of Rothmans and came back 30 years later after touring the States and Japan.

This cased is relic'd, OK.

Can you please provide the following dimensions:

- thickness of body
- width upper bout
- width lower bout
- total length top of headstock to tailpiece

Can you add a fully side-on pic from neck join through to bridge?

Is it fully hollow or is there a centre block?

Where are you located?

So many questions! Thanks

Ah, my first bass - a Senator. paid £15 for mine in 1970 and sold it for the same about 3 years later. Very nice, the neck joint is the only real issue with these and if it's been properly fixed it'll be good to go for another 40 years or so.

The headstock dates this to 1963. Mine had the dagger shape inlay, which was 1964.
I tried one of these last year, I really liked the sound but the neck joint looked like it was going and the guy wanted 900 for it. This looks a much better prospect. :-)
Obv, I am open to haggling upwards :)

Good evening, Owen...

I've posted a link to here on the Hofner forum which I frequent...

http://hofnerhounds.myfineforum.org/about651.html

...I hope this meets with your approval (if not I'll retract, of course...).
Good luck with the sale; it's almost a shame I have my Verithin bass, or I'd be after her..! She looks great. B)
