silverfoxnik
Now SOLD - thanks for all the interest! Hi Folks I recently bought this Squier VMJ 5 from gusgus to use in an acoustic-based music project, but that project isn't happening now, so I'm looking to move it on to pastures new where hopefully it'll get the use it deserves. Here's a link to gusgus's for sale thread: http://basschat.co.u...38#entry2087338 As far as price goes, I'm looking for £180 for the bass (plus p&p) which is a little less than I paid for it, but I'm hanging on to the Snark tuner and Peavey lead that came with it. To put it into context, Sounds Live and GAK currently sell these for £310 new online, so I think it's a fair price for a bass that's in good condition (http://www.gak.co.uk...v-natural/50660 / http://www.soundsliv...CFUrJtAodtyIAVw). Aesthetically, the bass is in great condition, though there are a few little dings here and there.. As its says on the tin really, these basses do have that vintage modified look to them - a typical 70's vibe with a natural finish to the body, maple neck with block inlay design and the black pickguard & pick ups etc, etc - very funky looking!! Pictures: I've reached my upload limit here, so f you'd like any other pictures, please send me a PM with your email address.. It's strung with some very nice sounding Labella deep-talkin' flats - which is why I bought it to be honest - and they really do give a lovely Old Skool Motown sound; very smooth and deep sounding but still quite bright sounding for flats. Not only that, but these strings cost over £40 new for a 5 string set these days, which further underlines why i think £180 is a very fair price. .... There's some excellent reviews of these basses on You Tube that are worth checking out: And here's a written review I found online: "Overall, as I mentioned before, this is a fantastic bass right out of the box! You cannot go wrong with this one. Pick one up and it will quickly become one of your go to basses. Lets see, real block inlays and binding (not painted). Very decent "clover style" machine heads. Very good sounding Duncan designed pickups. Solid maple neck. Overall, this baby is very much on par with basses costing 2 to 3 times its price. The finish is very smooth and surprisingly even. And yes, it sounds like a Jazz bass! You can pretty much dial in any sound you want with the Duncan designed pickups. Good even response. I kid you not, this bass really feels and sounds like a much more expensive bass! Hands down amazing in the value category! As far as im concerned, it absolutely cannot be beat for the price. If you leave it alone (no mods) right out of the box, it definitely holds its own and packs a punch giving other basses a challenge. Swap out the pickups, like I did, for Seymour Duncan BassLines pickups, and you have a heavyweight contender!" (http://www.musicians...ric-bass-guitar) As with all the equipment I've sold here on Basschat, I'm very happy to ship it at buyers expense and will package it up very securely indeed, though I always recommend that you take out insurance when shipping, even though it costs a bit more..! Equally, I'm very happy if people want to come and try the bass out in person here in (very sunny) Littlehampton.. Tea, biscuits and sea-air all provided free of charge! If you've any questions, please send me a PM or ask away here. Thanks for looking. Nik Edited July 13, 2013 by silverfoxnik
