cameltoe Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Boring, I thought this was going to be a thread about jetpacks and robot servants. Quote
SteveK Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013
What would be the point?
If the chip only showed a code identifying the owner (similar to chipping dogs), then I guess that would be of limited use. However, I can absolutely see the pointif thechip/device was able to show its location. Quote
Happy Jack Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 It's uncertain, but the end is always clear. Quote

Bassman Sam Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Great idea. How many stolen basses get reported on this site. Anything that makes it easier to recover one is good in my opinion. Quote
BassTractor Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Nah. A heavy duty GPS unit with large battery, hidden in the headstock, and we're talking. But yeah, it can indeed be of help despite its weaknesses. Better if 10 % are returned than 5 %. best, bert Quote
alyctes Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013
... (similar to chipping dogs) ...
Eww. Quote
miles'tone Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I wouldn't mind a bass chipped with realistic on board amp/cabinet modelling, one extra rotary knob with a click for each choice. It would have to add hardly any extra weight to the instrument and be charged similarly to the East P-Retro. Oh and a push/pull option for clean bypass. Give me THAT future. Quote
4 Strings Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Wasn't this (one of) the things that Tesco have been criticised for, they put these things in non-food goods to track the whereabouts of people who would buy that sort of thing? I suppose our movements are being tracked by our phones, Oyster cards, why not our basses too. "Oh, been on tour for 3 months have you? Looks here like your bass hasn't left your bedroom!" Quote
