tayste_2000 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I have up for sale my beautiful (and mostly unused by me) Overwater fretless, I bought this last year from a great guy who had basically kept it under his bed for the past 10-15 years, as such the fretboard has very little wear and the bass is in great condition, it's got some wear but I've tried to show these as best as possible in the pics. Basically I bought it because I love this shape and since I've had so many changes in my life that I haven't touched it really since getting it (never played fretless before) I have no need for it in my music projects, etc etc. It has a figured trans blue top and then you can see the finished wood on the back in a brown, I believe it's mahogany neck thru. The pickup covers are wood or wood effect (if it's wood effect it's a really damn good effect). The interesting point of this bass is it only features an xlr out and has a filter based preamp that is original to the bass but I've never really come across in an Overwater before, as there is no jack there is a small flick switch which serves as a an off switch for the bass so your batteries don't constantly die, I will include a suitable xlr to jack cable with the sale of the bass. It's the blue one on the left (though the brown/tabacco burst one on the right is also for sale) So in getting it, it's been professionally setup with a set of Overwater Light guage stainless steel rounds (mwah for days) the action is really really low, it's just amazing to play. I've added a Schaller style Hipshot de-tuner (though original tuner will be included) As this didn't come with a case and I had two for my other Overwater original (also for sale) so this comes with either a fitted Aluminium ATA case or an original late 70's leather covered Overwater hardcase (the other bass has the same option so it will be very much a first come, first serve) Pics below (these are from when I bought it but the bass is in the same condition only as stated with the hipshot added) Not looking for any trades at the moment, cheers
lozbass Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Wow! You're selling some gorgeous basses here Steve (fortunately, I'm in sell mode too!)
tayste_2000 Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 (edited) Yeah, cutting it down to 3, 2 of which are mainstays and 1 that will probably end up being the inrotation fun bass, currently a Pawn Shop mustang, still on the hunt for the perfect hollowbody. Edited July 10, 2013 by tayste_2000
tayste_2000 Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Weight on this is roughly 10.6lbs from what I can tell on my bathroom scales. It gets considerably heavier in the ata flightcase
CPBass Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 simply stunning. The 5 string is beautiful. A dream bass for me.
Shaggy Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Bump for a fab and classy fretless - love those early Overwaters, unlike many '80's basses don't look dated Just wish I had the readies.......
lozbass Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Very unusual and beautiful bass at a fantastic price!
tayste_2000 Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 (edited) Bump Anyone concerned about the connection on this you can actually use a passive di box in reverse and use the 1/4 inch outputs, it's actually an incredible sound, similar to how Anthony Jackson has his signal run. fleabag Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 The pup covers are likely to be genuine ebony. I had a single pup 80's Over, and that was genuine Ebony, and bloody excellent axe
