phsycoandy
I've had a J-Retro before In my DPLE1 and it could sometimes be noisy, what other non rout completely reversible options are there?

lozbass
Try this (I'm hoping to): http://www.acguitars.co.uk/index.php ACG EQ02 - excellent review of an earlier variant (with sound samples) on the BC review page

I fitted the Audere JZ3 to my Jazz - very easy retro-fit, with no soldering. I'm very pleased with it. And they're very good value new. With the weak dollar it worked out quite a bit cheaper than the East. I ordered mine direct from their website here: http://www.audereaudio.com/JZ3.htm
Jean-Luc Pickguard
The J-Retro I have is very quiet. Maybe yours was one of the older ones, I think John improved the noise levels on later ones and can modify an older one to bring it up to date.
