RaNoFuNkY Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Hi all, I'm looking into buying an expression pedal to control some of my effects, and I wondered if there is a common consensus on the available models? In the past, I've felt that quite a few expression pedals were flimsy and plastic. I'm looking for a more robust pedal, that gives me some resistance rather than requires impeccable "good toes - naughty toes" ballet action. Also, it will give me the confidence that it is well built. I'm looking at hooking the expression pedal up to an Expressionator too, so just the 1 expression pedal is needed I think. Any comments/reviews would be welcome. Ta Quote
paul_5 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I bought a knackered Wah pedal from eBay and just rewired that. Robust? I should say so, and it was a darn site cheaper than the plastic Roland/Boss ones. Quote
xgsjx Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 The Moog EP-2 is a good solid pedal. Served me well. Quote
RaNoFuNkY Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 Thanks for this guys. The Boss pedal can be used as a volume pedal AND separate expression pedal output? That seems worthwhile as I've been toying with putting a volume pedal at the end of my signal to control disparities in the output levels of different effect patches when quickly switching sounds on the fly (we are doing a hip hop medley akin to Justin Timberlake's "history of rap") Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I use my trusty boss fv500h Pretty much bombproof, and has a dedicated exp socket. Quote
winterfire666 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) Yamaha FC7, very heavy duty, very good quality, very competative price, All is well. nice long travel on the pedal too for those precise moments Edited July 17, 2013 by winterfire666 Quote
Guest FretNoMore Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) You may want to do some research into which pedal works best with your specific effects; expression pedals come with different potentiometer values that may or may not give you a full sweep with your effects, and some effects need non-standard (i.e. not TRS) cables. RaNoFuNkY Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Ah. Good shout - thanks. Well, it will primarily be used alongside the Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe, but I may branch out and use it elsewhere too. Quote
dannybuoy Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 The Moog definitely works well with the Xerograph - it didn't work with the Zoom B2 though! Quote
