mep
I would like BC opinions on my moral dilemma. I ordered a Fane Sovereign 12" speaker from a large company and the parcel arrived today. To my surprise it had 2 speakers inside. Do I keep quite and have it as a spare or fess up and tell them about it?

At worst, they'll ask you to send one back (at their expense...); this seems unlikely, but depends partly on the value of the item to them. It will, in any case, allow them to correct procedures to prevent further mistakes, and you'll get that warm, fuzzy feeling of having done things as one should. No dilemma there, it seems. Merton
I'd own up because I'm an honest chap. But the company you bought from needs to pay for collecting the extra speaker!
EssentialTension
Tell the truth. They may let you keep both speakers and you'll have done the correct thing. They may pay to return the second speaker but you'll still have done the correct thing.
KingBollock
Make sure you haven't actually paid for both first. I bet they wouldn't tell you if you had...

mep
Quick responses thanks. I bought off eBay and paid once with PayPal. Cost was £51.95. Am aware they will cover return postage. I will check one out first and then contact them.
Musky
Chances are someone will shortly be opening a box containing only one of the two speakers they ordered. I'd imagine it won't take long for the supplier to figure out what has happened.

TG Flatline
Aye, fessing up is the right thing to do here. I had similar from a German supplier, who told me to keep the goods as it was their error and the cost of collection and then their time re-processing it all when it got back wouldn't make it worth their while. BassTractor
. Congrats, and relax knowing we love you. Where's that fuzzy emoticon? I still have trouble understanding what they all mean. Anyway, now is a good time to please send back one of my two basses, and of course I will pay the courier once it arrives. best, bert

Their rep would suffer badly if they deliberately over-charge and small specialist business pretty much rely on reputation and customer service. The bass retailer I help out at always offers to refund if it has mistakenly over-charged - doesn't make any difference if it's £3 or £

The Fafner was worth a lot more but they said it was easier / cheaper to just let me keep it rather than pay for two additional shipping charges

Aye the shipping quickly jumps up as soon as the Channel presents a barrier. Mind you, it's jumped up a lot for domestic shipping too
