I'm beginning to feel that I should buy British stuff.

I have an Ashdown head and a Barefaced cab - both of which I am really pleased with. What are my options for actual bass guitars?

I can think of:

Status

Shuker

GB ?
I guess there must be more?

Made in Britain or British company? Either way, as already suggested Overwater, or the Overwaters by Tanglewood for the cheaper Chinese made ones.

I mean made in Britain really.

the model range might not be too wide, but I strongly recommend checking out Anaconda Basses.
Is that so after a gig you can say "do you want to see my anaconda?" to the ladies and having a fall back if they call you a perv?

Thanks. My main basses have always been British made: Burns, Overwater, Gus, Sei, and these would be the ones I would keep if I sold everything. I hope you find something you like amongst all those links.

Wow, impressive list, didn't know there were so many, and impressive work to make it!

Going to have some fun giving them all a visit.

Please don't visit Eccleshall, you'll slow down the repair of my B.C.Rich Ironbird, which he has only had for about 2 and a half years !

The new Gordon Smith Gryphons are great basses, really good pickups.
Agreed. Drew at the Manchester Bass Lounge is selling these, along with a good selection of Overwaters. Definitely worth the trip if you're wanting to try either of these brands out. he also does great coffee :)

He's not strictly a bass luthier, but I do know a chap in London who makes beautiful acoustic guitars:

http://alexbishopguitars.com/

He certainly did a great job setting up some of my instruments, and was a great help when I was building my Frankenbass. I know he also finished off an acoustic bass guitar for a mutual friend, so could probably do you a bespoke bass if you were prepared to pay for one!
