All thumbs
Hi fellow basschat peeps! It's been a while since I posted any free video lessons due to a hectic work schedule. However I've decided to share this one (previously only available to subscribers to my website). I figured 'Recording' would be the most appropriate place to post this, but really sorry if I got this wrong. The video talks through the process of recording a bass track and some of the pitfalls to avoid. It's certainly not a definitive way to record bass, but I hope there's something in there that might just help you if you're new to recording, or just want to get better at it :-) Enjoy.... http://youtu.be/ZdSUIBDQgTQ Scott. maldy
Great video and very helpful. I will definitely be employing the 'jack in the sock' trick!
Mornats
That was really good Scott, cheers! I don't think many people cover the details of recording like you have and it's one of the areas I'm trying to find help with. I'm looking forward to your next lesson on mixing for sure. I've done some google searching, but must not be using good search words because I can't seem to find any. Any help appreciated. BTW just been watching your slap lessons and they are great. :-) Edited July 25, 2013 by maldy

PlungerModerno
Good video! Very good info, lots of tips and advice put straightforwardly. A quick note: even if there's a clip light . . . LISTEN FOR CLIPPING!!!!... the light may not catch some minor transient clipping (or the blink can be missed by the observer!). Good DAW's e.g. Reaper show clipping visually in a clear way so this is less of a problem than with some older digital recording methods. In fact that goes for amp settings when playing live too!
