bubinga5 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 My sister played David Bowie earlier, it was Lets Dance, she thinks that is the coolest record shes ever heard. we often get into discussions about music, this is possibly the coolest record ive ever heard, and for the record, i would so smoke you on the bass bitch. Junkyard Rocket Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Surely the law of cool is that once something has been described as cool, It ceases to be cool. I would never describe my beautiful 12" picture disc of the Residents eskimo LP as cool as the eyeballed ones transcend all that nonsense. Bolo Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Slayers 1983 Haunting the Chapel ep original pressing. For rarity and thrash metal nerd factor. Quote

skej21 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 My original 1959 pressing of 'Time Out' by Dave Brubeck Quartet is up there... Quote
Bilbo Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 To be cool, it has to be on vinyl. Nothing on cd is cool, nothing digital is cool. My coolest record? Probably Diamond Head's White album. Quote
MisterFingers Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 An original UA edition of Can's 'Tago Mago" (with the pocket sleeve) or a 1978 Jamaican pressing (complete with glue on the label) of 'Leggo Dub"? Quote
Roger2611 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I guess it's my original pressing of Public Image by Public Image Ltd, nothing rare or special about it but to me cool because it was the first record I actually chose to buy rather than something my parents brought for me (Convoy by C W McCall!) Quote
John Schoen Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Mine has to be Live At Leeds from The Who. The scribbled label on the disk with the text "Crackling noises OK, do not correct". Vinyl of course. Quote
Raymondo Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Not sure ...are these cool? ...you tell me... Marquee Moon ...Television 12" single .....and I have the album. Camebert Electrique ...Gong .....1st 50p album on Virgin Cool to me ....Hogwash ....Groundhogs,first Album I ever bought, original tripple fold sleeve ....I thought Pete cruickshanks' Zematis bass was the coolest looking bass ever!! Quote
neepheid Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I don't have any records, but my Dad has one of the 12" picture discs of Curved Air, "Air Conditioning", that's pretty cool in my book. Quote
weepaul Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Metallica's 'Master of Puppets', signed by Lars,Kirk,James, and Cliff(R.I.P).........got the sticky pass from the Belfast gig to go with it. Quote
RhysP Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I wouldn't call it "cool" (because I'm not 15) but one of my favourites is my Vinyl copy of Talas' "Sink your teeth into that" that is signed "To Rhys from William". Quote
flyfisher Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 To me, 'cool' implies something laid back and not sensation-seeking or wildly popular. I'd probably choose something by JJ Cale. Quote
Wil Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013
Marquee Moon ...Television 12" single .....and I have the album.
Winner. Quote
genendeddie Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 My coolest record? Probably Diamond Head's White album. So true .... bought mine at a gig ....on the way out I will add x Quote
Roger2611 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013
I wouldn't call it "cool" (because I'm not 15) but one of my favourites is my Vinyl copy of Talas' "Sink your teeth into that" that is signed "To Rhys from William".
Surely things can still be cool once you are over 15 years old? Quote
Dingus Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013
I wouldn't call it "cool" (because I'm not 15) but one of my favourites is my Vinyl copy of Talas' "Sink your teeth into that" that is signed "To Rhys from William".
Great that he found the time to sign that for you , what with his helicopter flying duties and the baby being nearly due . Quote
Twincam Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 New order Blue Monday 12inch with the cover cut out to look like a old floppy disk and the code bar running down the side. Cool single cool album cover. Quote
yepmop Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 For me a 45 rpm single of "All The Young Dudes" by Mott The Hoople, I was/am a huge Mott fan and have all their singles on vinyl. Quote
Earbrass Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I still have tons of vinyl. Not sure what's "cool" though. Could it be something from my stack of 70's dub - The Best Dressed Chicken in Town, perhaps? Or perhaps some Professor Longhair? I've got a Sun Ra disk somewhere - no idea of the title. Or maybe the classic Gerry Anderson story LP "A Trip to Marineville" / "Thunderbirds Are Go". There's an EP of nursery rhymes in there somewhere featuring the voice of Boris Karloff, among others. But perhaps pride of place in "cool" terms is the album of Russian Folk songs performed by the Red Army Choir: "Kalinka!" Quote
redbandit599 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Signed copies of "Whispering Grass" and "Sing Lofty' by Don Estelle and Windsor Davies. I'll get my coat.... Quote
toneknob Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Probably 12" of Bowie's punctuation-heavy "Heroes"/"Helden" b/w "Heroes"/"Héros" runners-up: JAMMs "Whitney Joins The JAMMs" promo Dread Zeppelin "Un-Led-Ed" picture disc LP PMac "We All Stand Together" pic disc 7" Quote
