gypsyjazzer
Should a F/B on an EUB be perfectly straight or 'neck relief' (as in guitars) or have slight curvature all the way down? Does the same for apply to the D/B?
zero9
Some EUB's have a truss rod, to allow adjustment of the relief. A DB's fingerboard is normally 'shaped' to give the desired relief.
ubassman
The maximum movement on big thick double bass and EUB strings is at the centre of its length ( at around the octave harmonic point - 12th fret on a bass guitar). The fingerboard is usually shaped hollow to allow the string to vibrate freely otherwise it tends to buzz against the fingerboard. Same for DB and EUBs.
