Anyone on here use or have used Bag End cabs? I have had mine for a while and love it, I would be interested to hear any thoughts, opinions etc.

Cheers.

Tom.

Hi Tom,

I know your cab well, I've played through it at your Dad's house a few times and maybe on a gig. I like it.

I had a SWR Baby Blue Monitor a few years ago which had 2 x 8" Bag End drivers and that was a great cab, wish I'd kept it.

cheers

Keith

[/quote] Hello Keith,

Yeah nice cab isn't it? I am looking to add another one to it - preferably the S10-XD, if you ever hear of anything let me know although there doesnt seem to be a lot of it about or not that I can find anyway. Hope you are keeping well.

There's a couple of UK dealers who stock Bag End now, and that's a couple more than there were a few years back, so it's relatively easy to get hold of now

Yep, used to play a Mesa M-Pulse head through two Bag End SD-15s, lovely lovely rig. Very odd colour though.

The BassGear one literally sold on Monday :(

My favourite ever Bag End cab is the 2x12, sounds amazing with a big powerful head. Bit heavy but sounds wonderful.

I used to gig a 1x15 and 1x10 together. Worked really well and looked cool as well

I've got one of the Beedsters old 1x15" Bag Ends. Very nice all purpose cab, not light by modern standards, but for a 30 year old design its compact and musical. Doesn't have tons of low end on its own, so isn't that impressive on a quick try out but excellent on a gig where the front of house engineer doesn't want your amp getting in the way.

I understand Bag End evolved out of the Alembic / Grateful Dead Wall of Sound PA experiences. Those cabs were often industrial/plain plywood...which they still offer.

I think my ultimate "do everything" would be a powered, coax S15..with the built in power amp and plain wood finish. Just add preamp of choice, and DI when you need to.

I have a Q10BX-D (4 x 10, 8 Ohm) and a D10BX-D (2 x10, 4 Ohm) - I got lucky and acquired them when they were sent over for John Patitucci to use on a visit to the UK. He had the some units carted around the UK wherever he played and I got these wrapped and unused from John Henry's Studios. I run them with a 1400W QSC Powerlight and various pre-amps (Eden and Aguilar). They are seriously good! A bit heavy to move around in their flight cases, hence a smaller cab for most gigs and the stack for theatres and showing off.

I don't get them out very often as I have played with In-Ears for some time......but when I do, it is a seriously trouser-flapping experience.
