[/quote] Surely that's a matter of sample size rather than any inherent issue with five strings though? There are fewer players using five strings, and they haven't been around for as long, so most of the influential stuff we all remember was done on a four string. Bass lines poking in to the upper octave melodically now and again make a more memorable bass line than anonymous B - string rumbling. SpaceChick Posted August 3, 2013 Share Posted August 3, 2013 I agree it's something you can sing or what you start singing when people ask "What song is that" (although saying that I always sing the basslines and am usually met with blank stares!) ..... Two obvious ones that come to mind are Fleetwood Mac - The Chain and at the other end of the spectrum Deelite - Groove is in the Heart.
