University Access Course

I'm thinking of applying for a part-time place on this foundation music course, perhaps with the eventual aim of going for a BMus or a BA afterwards.

Partly I'm looking to improve my playing and musical comprehension, and partly I'm just bored and I like to study for the hell of it.

I wonder if anyone here has been through something similar and could give me some idea of the initial standard that's going to be expected, and the likely benefit of such a course?

I have plenty of part-time academic experience - I have a Masters Degree - but none in this sort of area of study.

I know I should just contact the course director, but I want to get a feel for it before I even commit that far.

Well, as far as I can see, as a 20 credit course, it's going to cost about £400. I'm sure I can get funding for that on my own.

I played in a band last year where two of the guys were doing the same course as you're looking at - hard work, but they both really enjoyed it.
