Oopsdabassist Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Anyone ever heard of these? http://www.avid.com/US/products/eleven-rack_2/features#overview Guitarist friend of mine blagged one cheap and ain't sure what he's got! Can he connect such a thing straight into his Marshall 4 x12 cab? he's trying to avoid using his Marshall valve head completely, will he need some kind of separate power amp? He's asked me and I have no idea.....over to you oh great and sage basschatters Quote
roonjuice Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 When he decides he dosen't like it, gimme a nod;) Quote
roonjuice Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 It is a very comprehensive pre-amp, think of it as a sansamp with direct to pro-tools capability. Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 So if its a pre amp, he still needs some kind of power amp between it and his cab? He don't want to use his Marshall valve head, any suggestions as to what he should use? Cheers! Quote
roonjuice Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) yeah, u will still need a power amp. Guitar>Eleven>power amp>speaker cabinet The beauty of it is any old P.A amp will do really. I would recommend about 300Watts rms@8ohms from a solid state amp to be (can of worms time....) arguablly as loud as the valve marshall depending on which marshall cab u use. Have fun with all those tones;) Edited August 5, 2013 by roonjuice Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Thanks bud, thats pretty much what I thought, but would hate to give him duff gen and blow up his new toy...or worse his cab! Quote
