I don't have the dots, but if it helps there are only four chords (Bm – D – F#m – E) which repeat throughout, so there's plenty of scope to just happily jam along to it :)

This guy nails it very nicely with some interesting fills:

A bit busy, but still an interesting 3 mins for me. This is on the list for the cover band to start playing in October.

The vid was also a good example for two points which regularly get raised here: there was no stretching for any of the notes and no floating thumb.

'nuff said!

We've been doing it for a few weeks, it's more about the groove on the day/night for me, and it depends on which drummer I'm playing with. Just the four chords looping round, so it's fun.

Vid is waaaaay too busy for me, tho, as Chris says, some interesting fills.

Wow that video is well played, but if I did as busy a line as that at a gig, id get shot!

Funnily enough though, I played this tune for the first time on Saturday night. Although I didnt stick to the original bass line, its a great opportunity to get a groove going with the drummer! Good fun playing it.

We do it with our acoustic band. Amazing reaction when you get the groove going on double bass and cajon and the audience still aren't 100% sure if it is, and then the acoustic guitar drops in with Niles riff, it gets 'em every time and they love it B) .
It's just such a feel good song.

The original part for this is something else - Nathan East really is one of the best players I've ever heard and this is a fine piece of grooving, I don't think he plays anything the same way twice!

One of my students recently asked me about the bassline to this song. I tried to transcribe the original Nathan East bassline. It was really hard, because you can't barely hear the five-string bass and it's low frequencies in the mix. I finally transcribed only the first part 'til the first chorus and I share it with you.

That looks good to me. I love the rhythmic differences as it goes on. Nice bit of jamming in the studio I expect.

Agreed...

He is listening very much to the vocal line as well, especially in the vocoder/robot voice breakdown (when the Bass comes in)

I must say that Musicman balances rather nicely on her lap.

Thanks. I do better from notation right now though; I've found this one:

Will this have been specifically transcribed for a five string? (or will it work fine with four?).
