vmaxblues Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Hi guys, I don't normally get stuck with these things, but has anyone got the tab for the above song?, I can get most of it, but it still doesn't sound quite right. Quote
gary mac Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Don't know that one but thoroughly enjoyed Argus, whilst cooking the dins last night. Sorry, no help at all Quote
MB1 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 ='gary mac' Don't know that one but thoroughly enjoyed Argus, whilst cooking the dins last night. Sorry, no help at all MB1. Ah...There's the rub. .... Coat Collected! Quote
KevB Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) Not just this track, there are quite a few WA tracks I'd like to have accurate bass transcriptions of but there just don't seem to be publications available. I read somewhere that Martin Turner was considering doing a book of WA material at one time but it never happened. Edited August 8, 2013 by KevB Quote
Norris Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 The main riff is B-D-E (gap) A-G-E-D-B-D-E i.e. all open or 2nd fret (the guitar plays above in 5ths) The rest is just a 12-bar 6/8 arpeggio, isn't it? Quote
Count Bassy Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 The solo at the start of "Handy". Love it, and often play around in the same vein (in private only), but never quite cracked it as such. Problem being that even if I did crack it when and where would you ever get the chance to use it? Quote
alant Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I've got an old (sometime in the 70's) Wishbone Ash song/chord book at home somewhere and I'm pretty sure Blind Eye is in it, not sure if the bass line is included though. Will check later and post again if it seems useful. Quote
tonybassplayer Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Did some cracking songs them Wishbone guys. Twin lead guitars many years before Lizzy "invented" it. Quote
Bassman Sam Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Loved that band and
The solo at the start of "Handy". Love it, and often play around in the same vein (in private only), but never quite cracked it as such. ezbass Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Friends of mine formed a WA tribute band and when Bob Skeet had to take a break from a tour some time back, the bass player depped for him (he may chip in here as he's a BCer). I have a lot of affection for New England a great, but often forgotten album. Quote
KevB Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Here's one you won't find on a best of compilation but I've always liked it (warning, ric content!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L44iHlbemwo Quote
alant Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Blind Eye is in the old book I found last night, but no bass is shown. Martin Turner (WA original bassist) is still going strong and performing old WA songs as" Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash". Met him a few years back at the bass guitar show and also saw his band not that long ago. Andy Powell, one of the former twin lead guitarists is still performing as Wishbone Ash. Quote
vmaxblues Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 Cheers guys, this is why I love BC! Quote
