2 pickup bass, both pickups blended 50:50, lowish action to get that certain type of attack and fret buzz (which is very much part of the sound and you won't get the sound without it), plus a gentle, gentle bit of compression & overdrive to thicken up slightly. EQ to taste, and you're close.

Oh, forgot to add .... a pretty aggressive fingerstyle technique will also be required
